Looking For The Shadow

Lately, I've been thinking about my Shadow. Not the shady place that my physical form creates by blocking the rays of the sun, but that other place, that inner place within. That place that hides from the light, that place made out of fear and self doubt. I was beginning to think about what would happen if I shined a little light on those places, let them rub their mole blind eyes and get their first glimpse of sunlight. I imagine these shadows as harmless small furry creatures. Well, not always... I guess I always perceived them as monsters that had to be kept under lock and key. But one day I began to see that the light complements the darkness and the darkness complements the light. They define each other. They work together to create a construct for perception and understanding. In general, I think most people perceive the light as "good" and the Shadow as "bad". What if we take out the judgement from the equation? I began to look around me at the world of shadows. I saw that shadows have a life and grace and beauty all their own. Sometimes shadows seem to dance and sway. They are like the married partner of the light. Could they even exist without each other? I began to notice the beauty in the shadows in the world all around me. Nothing here to be afraid of. Here are a few shadows I've discovered in the world so far.
